UNI Sport PRO Head of Department, Walter Palmer, to take position with NBA Players Union
Walter Palmer, the Head of Department for UNI Sport PRO (now UNI World Athletes) for the last three years, will leave his position at UNI Global UNION to become the Deputy Executive Director, International Development and Marketing for the NBA Players Union based in New York City.
Before his time with UNI Global Union, Mr. Palmer co-founded SP.IN, the first union for professional basketball players in Germany and served as General Secretary of the EU athletes, a federation of player unions in Europe representing over 30 player unions and 25,000 athletes. From 1990 to 2003, he was a professional basketball player, beginning his career when he was drafted in the second round of the 1990 NBA draft by the Utah Jazz. Palmer played two seasons in the NBA for the Jazz and the Dallas Mavericks. Between 1991 and 2003 he also played professionally in Germany, France, Italy, Argentina and Spain. He has been a dedicated advocate for athlete rights with respect to anti-doping rules reform, protecting athletes from match fixing, and improving health and safety in the sport workplace. Mr. Palmer played for the Dartmouth College basketball team before graduating in 1990. He will begin his position with the NBPA on December 15th.
