UNI Global Union and the World Players Association, along with dozens of other leading global stakeholders involved in the Mega-Sporting Events Platform for Human Rights (MSE Platform), announced today their plans to launch an independent Centre for Sport and Human Rights next year.

On November 25th, 1960, the three Mirabal sisters were assassinated for their political activism against the dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo in the Dominican Republic. Their deaths became a symbol of feminist resistance and since 1981, this date became synonymous throughout Latin America as a day to combat and raise awareness on violence against women.
