What is the UNI Passport ?

In a rapidly globalising economy more staff than ever before are working abroad, either on a short or long term basis. Expatriates face all kinds of challenges - at work and in the very business of living abroad.
Work related issues, social matters, pensions and qualifications are obvious examples of the difficulties that can crop up. So working abroad you need - more than ever - the help of a trade union.
The UNI Passport helps ensure that you take your access to trade unions with you when you move abroad to work.

How do I get a UNI Passport?

Unions wishing to issue UNI passports to their members are required to follow the following procedure:

  • The first step entails the distribution by the union to its members of a four-page leaflet on the passport, including an order form, together with the booklet Working Abroad – UNI Guidelines.

  • Interested members should return the duly completed order form to their union (not directly to UNI).

  • Using the attached form, the union should order the quantity of passports in the language required from the UNI secretariat. They are available in English, French, German, Spanish and Swedish. They should then be forwarded by the union to the members concerned.

For more information about the passport have a look at the below documents, which you can download in several languages.
