Invitation to UNI Communicators’ Forum 2013
Jerome Morard 22 April 2013 15:23:12
Dear Colleagues,UNI would like to invite your union to participate in the upcoming Communicators’ Forum, which will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre Valletta, Malta from June 18-20.
The theme of this year’s Forum is “New Visions for Union Communications”.
The focus will be on how we can sharpen and promote the labour movement message in the teeth of the crisis. What are the best digital solutions to maximise the impact of our communications strategies to inform, inspire and mobilise your members in the spirit of “Including You”.
UNI Global Union General Secretary Philip Jennings said, “We look forward to welcoming your communications experts in Malta. Never have communications been so vital as the crisis continues to bite, destroying workers’ lives. We must win the PR war against big business, government and the Troika. We must change the public perception of the union movement – we are job and wealth creators and must be seen as such. The Communicators’ Forum has a great track record, we look to the affiliates to seize the opportunity to learn about and share cutting edge innovations in the union communication world.”
The full programme will be available online. Some of the themes included are:
- Five years on – five years after the crisis began how do we seize the narrative, identify the new communication challenges and prepare to win the PR war?
- The Road to Cape Town 2014 – with the UNI Global Union World Congress in sight what steps must we take to maximise the media impact to benefit your members and break through?
- “I am a Camera” – how can we encourage and support your grass-root members in gathering audio-video materials and images to give our stories real impact?
- Digital Power – how to create an integrated, powerful digital communications platform to deliver our message
We want the UNI Communicators’ Forum 2013 to be at the forefront of innovation and with that in mind we will send out a doodle poll to all registered participants to ensure the programme is tailored to their needs and prioritises the issues that really matter.
The Forum takes place each year and it is a unique event in the UNI calendar. It is important that we bring our best talent together so that we can learn from each others’ experiences and move forward.
