Worker explains the importance of international solidarity

This meeting, called by SEIU and sponsored by UNI is very important, as it allows unions coming from different parts of the world to reaffirm their commitment to solidarity and to the struggle to respect workers’ fundamental rights.

In addition, this meeting is important because it allows for the support of workers at Sovereign bank, which is currently owned by Santander, who are suffering from layoffs and pressure not to organize a union.

Now more than ever, unity and solidarity is needed to achieve a global agreement to respect labor rights.  Here in Boston, USA, we are reaffirming our commitment to fight against Santander’s policy of intimidation against workers in the USA.  That is why this meeting here in the US is important.
