<description><![CDATA[Worked for EDS for many years. In management I got to see the eliminating of bottom 15 percent, the periodic identifying and then making employees uncomfortable enough for them to quit, the bull surrounding tomorrows raises, tomorrows bonuses, while making employees give up their todays. I know how we priced for profit, then eliminated contingency, raises and bonuses, quality of course dropped pretty quick, all to add to profit. Nope, not a lot of consideration for the employees. HP seems pretty much the same, the leadership may even be less ethical than EDS. I always thought the auditors should look pretty hard at the expenses of management. I know Hurd was caught out, but many more should be also. Unfortuneatly, if you are high enough, being asked to leave is much like winning the lottery in terms of goodbye pay and pensions.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[HP EDS has such a bad reputation for being an awful company to work for. It is well known that morale is poor, that management has for a long time been very much only concerned with their own survival and bonuses and the lies to employees regarding future raises and bonuses. Any company that would outsource its employees to this company is demonstrating that it puts financials above the well being of their employees. When EDS was successful, it had high morale, well rewarded employees, a drive to always to exceed client expectations and what appeared to be a genuine concern regarding employee well being. They have, for some time, lost all of these attributes. It is now a cash cow for managers counting their days to retirement by keeping their heads down and doing enough to get by.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[HP and EDS seem to be just awful companies to work for. When employee morale is so poor, you cant expect the staff to work as a team, or to make that extra effort that will make them stand out from the competition. I think it would be accurate to say that the employees I know, actually dont like working for HP/EDS and if they could find jobs in this recession elsewhere, they would be gone. It is hard to understand the decline in morale that has occurred over the past 8 or so years. But I suspect that the leadership, at EMEA, country and even account level is to blame. Respect is not fear, and you dont get respect if the employees think you are liars, and dont trust you. I dont see why companies actually do business with HP and EDS when they have so many issues, they should be concerned that it might be contagious.]]></description>

Focus on bullying, financials, lies about salary increases, bonuses etc. The management is doing ok, the workers suffer. HP looks to have read the same management handbook. I know that companies like EDS and HP exist to only make a profit, but they should care a little more about their employees, customers etc. and a little less about lining their own pockets. Customers know that EDS employees are a pretty unhappy lot. I really dont understand why any responsible company would outsource its employees to such an exploitative organization. Ask transitioned in employees what their experience has been. My guess is that if they do answer honestly, it would be an awful assessment. If HP is smart, it will dump the EDS management, start again.]]></description>

Unite claimed the computer giant is removing pay and pension benefits, including a performance bonus scheme worth up to £2,000 and a final salary pension scheme.<br /><br />"This is HP's highest level of support for its biggest customers - and they're going to be seriously hacked off if there is a strike. It is staggering how the engineers are staying positive when they're being treated like garbage," an ex-HP insider told The Register.<br /><br />The union said it had served HP seven days notice of the ballot, which kicks off today. The outcome of the vote will be announced in the middle of November, added Unite.<br /><br />Unite said it had asked workers to vote after a consultative ballot at the start of October came out in support of HP workers downing tools.
