About Us

UNI Property Service Global Union brings together about 125 national unions around the globe working together in 75 countries to improve the lives of workers who clean, secure and maintain buildings and grounds, as well as other private security workers. These national unions have around 1 million members in these sectors and represent many thousands more. Our ranks include cleaners who keep the floors shining at the world famous Sears Towers in Chicago, the security officers who guard banks throughout Africa and India, and the cleaners in airports from Schiphol in Amsterdam to Los Angeles.

Our mission is to raise standards for the millions of property service workers around the world by helping to build strong unions.

Many of our members work in decent conditions negotiated with strong unions or have transformed their lives by building a union at their workplace. But many workers in these industries have been left behind. These workers are denied rights others take for granted, for example -the right to come together in the union of their choice - or can't adequately support their families despite the fact that they work for wealthy multi-nationals. Many cleaning and security workers are immigrants who have moved to a new country to build a better life.

Unions representing these workers have come together through UNI Property Services for many years to coordinate and share approaches.

As multinational corporations have expanded their reach in the contract cleaning and security industries, we are now launching international campaigns to call on these giant firms to respect workers rights wherever they operate in the world in order to secure improvements.
