Taking into account the seriousness of the recent events involving acts of repression from the police forces against workers, the difficult situation undergone by the labour movement in Panama, and having previously consulted our affiliates, colleague Victor Baez, General Secretary of the Trade Union Confederation of the Americas, TUCA, has considered his visit to that country aimed at getting a better understanding of the situation and to express solidarity with workers of the Panamanian labour movement, must not be postponed.
The mission will start on July 16
th and extend to July 18
th. UNI Regional Directors Marvin Largaespada and Alberto Barrow will join the mission; from ICM Regional Representative Carlos Salguero; Education Regional Secretary Ernesto Marval, and Melkis Miranda Coordinator from Central America and the Caribbean will hold meetings with Mariano Mena, from the CGTP, Guillermo Puga, from CTRP and Victor Torres, from Union Convergence (Convergencia Sindical)
